EDUCATION comes from the Latin term educare which means “to bring up”. Thus, education must start from childhood. The first day of school of a child brings one of the remarkable moments of his or her life. It is best recommended that the child’s parents must be both absent from work on that day so they can monitor their child’s behavior and interaction with his or her classmates from a viewing room outside the classroom. More importantly, the parents and the teacher must likewise monitor the cognitive development of the child.
In primary education which starts when the child is six years old, he or she is starting to be oriented with English grammar and literature, arithmetic, science, geography, history, physical education and music as well as a little bit of anthropology, economics, education, law, political science, psychology, sociology, communication studies, development studies, informational science, international relations and sociobiology. For example, in anthropology, a six-year-old kid can be taught about the life of the granddad of his granddad. In economics, a six-year-old kid can be taught that storing one cent a day can result of savings of 31 cents a month. In international relations, a six-year-old kid can be taught that the world does not confine only to English-speaking children like him but there are also other children across oceans which do not speak English. In sociobiology, the six-year-old kid can be assigned an experiment to observe ants in their lawn and how they interact with each other. Teaching intense subjects such as the one mentioned earlier on a child’s level is really fun and challenging. The advantage of this on the child’s part is the student will be more intelligent than his or her peers who rely only on the school’s curriculum. Teaching these alternative subjects is largely dependent on the personal tutor of a child or even on his or her mom who may be an educator herself. Just make sure that the child is not bombarded with heavy knowledge so that his holistic development will be balanced. A child receiving primary education must be dosed with heavy nutrition as his brain will start functioning more than when he was still goofing around with no studies and school assignments in mind. If one is unsure on what vitamins or food to give to your child, then better consult your child’s pediatrician. Every public and private elementary school in the United States has its own resident pediatrician and child psychologist too. Some cannot afford to hire them permanently but any of the two can immediately be summoned if the need calls for it. There are currently 37.9 million students enrolled in the elementary level in the United States. It also has a reading literacy rate of 98 percent for people below 15. Since the passage of the No School Left Behind Act in 1992, nine-year-olds all over America have improved their reading and mathematic skills as compared for the last 28 years. The tuition in public schools is free.
